Upcoming Event

The PETITA INTENSE program is a cultural and educational program for students of professional dance institutions created as an essential component in the academic educational process.

Participants will work with an international team of ballet professionals and explore the different strands of Petipa’s choreography. They will aslo have inriching ballet exchange classes, each dedicated to a specific style and technique from the main  ballet schools in Denmark, England, France, Italy and Russia.

We will host this annual program in Brussels, a city of childhood of Marius Petipa, a city where he first appeared on stage and a city where all European cultural roads cross.

The main goals of the program are:
– to share innovative ideas and methods in modern ballet education
– to expand knowledge about different ballet techniques
– to motivate students to explore the rich palette of ballet history and broaden their cultural horizons
– to help students build strong connections with professionals in the international ballet community
– to promote collaboration between ballet teachers, choreographers and ballet history researchers

During one-week PETIPA INTENSE program participants will:
– get acquainted with main five styles and schools of classical ballet (Italian, French, Danish, Russian, English) and their specific techniques during exchange classes;
– learn the varied repertoire of choreographer Marius Petipa (Traditional, Reconstructed, Imperial);
– listen to five insightful lectures on the history of ballet, exploring Marius Petipa’s career as a dancer, teacher, and choreographer including the unique materials from archives at Harvard University;
– visit Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, one of Europe’s oldest theaters, where Petipa’s remarkable stage career began;
– walk along “Petipa’s Way” in Brussels, where he spent the first 16 years of his life.

The PETIPA INTENSE program combines history and modernity, supports talented young people, popularizes cultural heritage, provides the distinctive content and memorable experience, and presents the participating schools in an impeccable professional light.
